both of County Tipperary. They were married in Tasmania but I don't know when they came out from Ireland or what area of Tipperary they were from....maybe someday. Regards Tony
I too am looking for Henry Morris - from Innashellan and Christopher And Jane Brandon - also from Ireland (Ireland is only thing listed on death certificate - haven't found them on ship records I have searched
My ancestreal family is Barry. I have traced them back to 1600s in Kilmore Wexford. I have exhausted names and am now looking at land records trying to trace confiscation of land during the Cromwellian period. My Barrys farmed at Rackardstown Kilmore from as least second half of 17thc to present day.
The main name I'm researching right now is MEAGHER. My g-g-ggrandfather was Patrick Meagher who emigrated to Ontario (then Upper Canada) and married Mary Savage of South Monaghan in 1859. We have narrowed his birth to between 1836-38 and he is believed to originate from Tipperary (possibly Cashel). He may have had a brother named Dennis as well as one named Jimmy (James?). The roadbloack I have run in to is that Cashel has not released its records to any source and I hope someday to go there to view the records myself.
I am looking for six ancestors from Ireland; four on my father's side: Horan/Horen, O'Brien, Dunne & Ryan. All four hail from Co. Tipperary and immigrated during the Famine years. On my mother's side, I have two ancestors: McAuliffe (Cork) and O'Sullivan (Kerry). They immigrated in the early 1890's. I made a lot of progress tracing my family roots in the U.S., but I "hit a wall" about a year ago when I tried to continue my work in Ireland. Perhaps I wasn't looking in the right places!
